Game leaders and game teaching
The system of the game leaders in Estonia
- In the beginning of the 1st and the 2nd project year the voluntary students from 3-5th grades were first given a training of how to teach a game. They focused on what could be difficult when teaching a game.
- They got their game leader sleeves, badges and game booklets.
- Twice a month the game leaders met to choose a game from the booklets to teach every Friday. They also put the descriptions on the walls so that the students can play these games on their own as well. Every time they met, they first practiced teaching the game on the game leaders group.
- At the end of the year, game leaders analyzed their year and their development as game leaders.
Game leaders system in Finland
Game leaders
Every Autumn we train new game leaders at our School. Game leaders are from 4th to 6th graders. Training takes 1,5 hours twice and we train 25 new game leaders at the same time.
Game leaders lead break time activities once a week on Wednesdays in PE hall. The first and the fastest twenty pupils can participate those activities.
Game leaders have special vests so that other pupils are able to recognize them. Vests are bought by NordPlus project money and game booklets of traditional Finnish outdoor and indoor games to lead the games.

Break time tools borrowing system at our School
Every day except Wednesdays pupils are able to borrow tools. The borrowing system is running by all pupils in turn. All the pupils have their own borrowing card which contains their name and grade on it. They get the tools when they give the card and get their card back when they return the tools. We have f.e. footballs, frisbees, lacrosse sticks, american footballs, petanque games, gym balls, floorball sticks and jumping ropes. |
The game leaders system is continuing in all the participating schools.
